Bloggers Quilt Festival....Emerged

AmysCreativeSide.com

Every year, Amy at Amy's Creative Side hosts a Bloggers' Quilt Festival.  This year, I finally got my act together and am entering two.  I picked two of my most recent finishes.  While I'm super proud of my Heal Circle quilt, it was collaborative, and I wasn't sure where to enter it.

So, instead, I picked a throw quilt sized quilt from my Angled Class with Rachel over at Stitched in Color.  She does amazing online classes, and I always learn buckets from her!

This one is Emerged.

Emerge quilt

I have attempted a Lone Star before, but it was itty bitty (and still unfinished) and used interfacing to make it easier.  Maybe because the diamonds were biggerI had no problems with this one.  The biggest challenge was applique-ing it on to the background.  Much blood was spilled.
I used some of my precious hoarded Nummer for this one.  (Still sad it seems to be discontinued.)

I did a simple echo quilt on this background.  I wanted to keep it soft and floppy rather than doing intense quilting.  This is going to be one of my go to hang out quilts for the winter.  I'm not usually a pink girl, but these make me happy.  I used simple black binding for the edging.

If you are visiting for the first time, I hope you'll come back and visit again. If you are a regular, thank you for taking the time to keep reading!

Bloggers Quilt Festival....Catnap Blanket

AmysCreativeSide.com
A couple times a year, Amy over at Amy's Creative Side hosts a Blogger's Quilt Festival.  Every year, I debate whether or not to post.  This year, I am!  I'm entering this one in the Handquilted category.

Indian Blanket quilt

This quilt is one of my all time favorites.

Not only does it feature Lizzy House's Catnap (and she's one of my all time favorite designers), there is something enticing to me about the color combination.

The design is Rachel's from Stitched in Color.  I'm taking her Angled class.  I'm getting comfy with triangles.  I definitely see more in my future.

I hand quilted this in perle, trying to find colors that blended (without vanishing) into the fabrics.

It's approximately 64"x70".

If you want to check out other quilts, or enter your own, you've got until Oct 31 to do so!

A Bunch of finishes....

If you follow me regularly, you might notice that I keep a tally running on the bar on the right with my Finish Along list.  I've been ticking off the ones that I get done, mostly do I can keep track of how many I still have left to go.

Currently in progress:
Starbright 1
Donut quilt top
Star Wars items

I hope to have these mostly done by Monday.

Here's what I've been up to in Oct.  (I had two days off of work in there.)

ALYOF Oct Goal complete!

I set my sights on finishing a bag I was making for my mom in October.

It was a Noodlehead sidekick bag.
It even matched my first sidekick, at least on the exterior.
When I brought it with me on my previous visit to my folks, my mom commented that she really liked the bag and wanted one just like it.
I couldn't completely comply, mostly because I had used up all the orange fabric I had on the first version, and it wasn't available any longer at my LQS.  Plus, my mom doesn't really wear orange.
So, I traded out the orange for some Kaffe in blue.

Luckily, I even finished it in time to hand it off as an early Christmas present when I saw my mom and dad last weekend.

Goal met!  Linking up to ALYOF.
